Cricket in Phuket!

I talk with people at home and they ask me what I've been up to lately......When I reply that I've just participated in an International Cricket Tournament they seem quite shocked! I hear things like "Who plays cricket in Thailand?"

My local Cricket Club (Waringstown Cricket Club) was extremely interested in the tournament when they got news of it through my friends, and I have had some Northern Ireland media approach me quite interested in what went on at the Phuket Cricket sixes 2005. (I hear you say "Irishmen don't play cricket" well think again.

I'm not too sure if the interest is genuinely cricket or that its because of the Tsunami and anything to do with Tsunami effected areas is hot news that they are showing interest.........but regardless I think we should all use this to the advantage of promoting Phuket Cricket and The Phuket Cricket Sixes tour. I think that with enough media attention in our local areas we could make the Phuket Cricket Sixes 2006 twice the size as 2005.

I would really love to see Phuket Cricket Union step it up in the 2006 Cricket Sixes with a bit more practice before the tournament and some organization in our batting and bowling order. So all the team members of Phuket Cricket Union should book a week prior to the tournament for practice and get yourself down to your local nets once a week to keep well oiled (that doesn't mean get pissed) Highmy and Sunglasses I know you were doing this anyway.

I have noticed the Phuket Cricket Union blog creeping its way up into the first pages of Google when searching for Info on Cricket in Phuket or the Phuket Cricket 6's tournament. With regular updates and a few more members it could become a valuable tool for promoting Phuket Cricket and the Phuket Cricket Union team.

If you have any mates interested in Cricket as a whole or just want to give their 2 cents every now and then, Invite them to be a member of the blog (This can be done via your Blogger Dashboard) The more members we have the better whether or not they are members of the Phuket Cricket Union.
